Flying Turtle Gallery Mural

a TeenARTS project

In August and early September 2004, Eugene muralist Alison McNair and five Oakridge teens painted an outdoor mural on the Flying Turtle Gallery located on Hwy 58 in Oakridge. A mural dedication and gallery opening was held in October 2004.

The mural includes two giant turtles and bright whimsical sunflowers. Built within the layers of the mural are small designs and shapes. The closer people get, they realize that one of the turtle's shell has a map of the area, including lakes, campgrounds, points of interest and more.

Flying Turtle Gallery is open year round 10:00am-6:00pm, Thurday through Monday and hosts monthly featured shows and special events.

The mural project was supported by funds from Ford Family Foundation, Greenville Foundation, U.S. Bank/U.S. Bancorp Foundation, and community and project partners, as well as a Lane County Special Projects Grant.
