"When I Dream"
By Young Women's Theatre Collective and Laura Kemp

Welcome to this world of my own fabrication
where success is measured by whether I'm happy and the beauty's big beyond imagination and the shadows dance with me

When I dream about this world as I see it in my future all the things about my life that I'd like to rearrange I seek for a peace of mind and an inner satisfaction when I look into the mirror there is nothing I would change

And my family is near and there is understanding that the differences between us allow our eyes to see the diversity abounding no longer separates us there is power in the beauty connecting you and me

Now the fences have been burned and the borders have been broken flowers cracking through the pavement, reaching for the sun and the wounds upon the earth have been healed by understanding and water clear as diamonds rushes forth to the ocean

Peering out the window at the buildings holding up the sky raindrops beat upon my window pane and shadows that have haunted me late into the night show themselves as friends and I see we are the same
