Wildlife Extravaganza at Explorers Club

a TeenARTS project

At Explorers Club in Veneta during the summer of 2004, 4 high schoolers and 9 middle and high school students created information panels, posters and a 2? x 4? tile mural for the Fern Ridge Wildlife Refuge headquarters with artists Annette Rothweiler and Carolyn Osborne-Sommer.

Four teens focused on creating posters and interpretive information panels about birds using watercolor and colored pencil. Middle school students worked on the clay tile mural for the Fern Ridge Wildlife Headquarters. After the summer 2004, high school students and the artists finished artwork.

In summer 2005 the project continued, with middle schoolers creating stepping stones and birdhouses in clay to be used by Fern Ridge Wildlife Refuge and Wildlife Homecare Network. Five high school students also created watercolor information panels about mammals to be used at the refuge headquarters.

The Fern Ridge Wildlife Refuge hopes to have the work installed in the fall 2005.
