Elmira High School Tolerance & Diversity Mural

a TeenARTS project

With the help of muralist Alison McNair, 12 Elmira High School studetns produced a mural to express their school's support of tolerance and diversity within their community. Design of the mural began in Februrary 2003 and the project lasted through May 2003.

SOAR (Self-control, Open-mindedness, Acceptance, and Respect), part of the tolerance and diversity curriculum taught by teens at the school, were integrated into the mural.

This project was developed in partnership by the Elmira High Tolerance and Diversity group, Fern Ridge School District, Alison McNair, and YouthArts, a program of Lane Arts Council. Supported by funds from the Oregon Community Foundation through Lane Arts Council and the Oregon Country Fair Endowment through Elmira High.
