Lowell Covered Coffee

a TeenARTS project

Covered Coffee, Lowell High School's new coffee cart, was dedicated on June 1, 2004. Lowell High School is located at 65 South Pioneer in Lowell.

The cart's exterior was designed and painted by Lowell High students Clyde Comstock, Daniel Krei, and Brett McNichols under the guidance of Eugene artist Rita Fiedler. It features graphics and illusionary artwork which makes the cart appear to be a covered bridge.

Fiedler began working with the students in February 2004 to design and paint the cart. The construction of the cart and additional support comes from the Lowell Community School Partnerships Program, funded by a Ford Family Foundation grant. The project gave the students experience in construction, art, and teamwork.

The mobile cart will initially operate next to the high school, with plans to eventually locate it next to the Lowell Covered Bridge along Highway 58. The cart will be a student-run business, operating before and after school and during the summer.

Hours of operation for Covered Coffee are Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. Lowell High School is located at 65 South Pioneer in Lowell.

A collaborative effort among YouthArts, a program of Lane Arts Council, Lowell Community School Partnerships Program, Lowell High School, Jim Chapman and Rita Fiedler. Supported by funds from Ford Family Foundation, Greenville Foundation, U.S. Bank/U.S. Bancorp Foundation, and community and project partners.
