Paul Prince — World Music
- Paul Prince seeks to inspire young people through music performance and intricate harmonic techniques. His acoustic performance includes world music on guitar and harp to create melodic and intriguing instrumental traditions from all over the world. Some of the musical styles covered include instrumental traditions from Spain, Ireland, America (featuring blues and Including Hawaiian slack key guitar) Africa, (Zimbabwe, West Africa, and Madagascar), India, and Japan. Paul creates musical examples using the scales and music systems of these cultures.
- The assembly includes a performance, short history segment, instrument descriptions, and discussion section with the students. He brings his enthusiasm and love of music to educate young people about the wonders of the world's different music cultures and how they can bring us together.
- Paul Prince has performed on the acoustic guitar for over 35 years. He continues to teach guitar throughout the Northwest. Paul was one of two U.S. finalists in a fingerstyle guitar competition in 1994. He also toured with Zimbabwean icon Thomas Mapfumo and his band the Blacks Unlimited.
