Yvonne Manipon — Mixed Media & ReUse Art
- Yvonne Manipon offers artist residencies in mixed media & reuse art. The primary goal in her classes is to teach people about re-using materials that would normally be thrown away. She teachers all ages how to re-create and re-imagine materials to make something new and sometimes useful. She creatively inspires folks to turn “junk” into anything from making scarves out of fleece scraps, weave baskets out of telephone wire, using old socks to make dolls or sock puppets, creating masks out of paper scraps, building mosaic sculpture out of everyday objects, tile and grout and many more creative projects, the list is endless!
- Yvonne Manipon loves art! She has been creating art all of her life and has devoted her career as a painter, arts administrator and art teacher in the field of painting, drawing and mixed media reuse art. She is a California native and now lives in Eugene, Oregon. She completed a Master of Arts degree in Arts Administration from the School of Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine and Applied Arts from the University of Oregon.
- Currently, Yvonne is teaching art classes and is an exhibition interpreter and liaison for after school programs at the University of Oregon's Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. She also leads workshops and classes for various local community arts organizations, public schools and recreation centers through the Materials Exchange Center for Community Arts (MECCA). She has over 20 years of experience as an art teacher, arts administrator and practicing artist. She has held many positions with various arts organizations as a museum educator, executive director and program administrator.
