Liza Casey includes art history
- Liz Casey has had her painting and fabric works shown up and down the west coast in British Columbia, Washington and California since 1992. She holds a Master's degree in Art Education and has recently relocated to Oregon where she has received an Oregon initial teaching license. She also has teaching credentials in Washington and California. Liz offers a workshop for teachers in drawing and painting on paper, tile or fabric where she teaches them how to integrate core subject matter into relevant art projects. "My interest in teaching youth is to awaken and involve students in the creative process and to provide an increased awareness and appreciation of the arts."
- Liz offers two options for art residency projects with students. Watercolor Wonder. Students explore watercolor techniques to create a still life, abstract and landscape painting while focusing on composition, line and color. Students then choose their favorite painting and mount it onto wood after designing the edge with acrylic paint to create a framed work of art ready to display at school and home. Materials- watercolor paper, watercolor paints, brushes, wood, glue.
- Paper Mache Sculpture. Students create 3 dimensional works of art from everyday, recyclable materials like newspaper, cardboard and odds and ends. Children will learn skills like spatial reasoning, measurement and basic building strategies for their creations. Projects can have a theme like crazy creatures, or general themes in nature such as flowers and animals. Materials- newspaper, tape, cardboard, glue, odds and ends, brushes, paints.
- "Liz did a wonderful job and was very professional. Liz came to our Literacy Night on her own time with a display of the "residency" for parents to see" Shelly Silver, Kindergarten Teacher and residency coordinator, Howard Elementary
- "All students were exposed to a week of art. Those students who participated in the 4 week experience benefited from the integrated study, tying into the watershed project and expertise of the field ecologist." Devery Stoneberg, Principal, Pleasant Hill Elementary
- "The paper mache salmon was a great success and integrated well (through EcoArts) with our science curriculum." Jeannie Miller, Teacher (4th), Pleasant Hill Elementary
- Recent Artist Residencies include Buena Vista, Meadowlark, Howard and EcoArts at Pleasant Hill Elementary.
