Grants Awarded to Eugene-Area

Arts Projects and Programs

Lane Arts Council announces $49,100 in grants to seven community arts organizations and 21 arts projects in the Eugene area for the 2011-2012 arts year beginning July 2011. The Community Arts Program is supported through a partnership with the Cultural Services Division of the City of Eugene.

The grants help ensure diverse and accessible arts opportunities and experiences for Eugene artists, audiences and other participants. Community arts funds have been budgeted and allocated to the Lane Arts Council since the early 1980s by the City of Eugene to assist a variety of community-based cultural arts projects. The City’s room tax fund of over $1.5 million contributes to the general fund, which provides the primary support for Cultural Services, including the Hult Center and Community Arts.

This year, twenty one projects will receive $25,000 in Community Arts Project Grants, ranging from $500 to $2,000 and seven community arts organizations, with annual budgets above $100,000, will receive $24,100 in Program Grants ranging from $2,000 to $6,000.

The members of the Project Grants panel included: Mija Andrade, Executive Director of M.E.C.C.A; Sisy Anderson, Visual Artist and UO Arts and Administration Instructor; Mimi Nolledo, Photographer, Digital Artist, Board Member of Eugene/Springfield Asian Council; David Mort, Development Director, Lord Leebrick Theatre Company; Fred Wesley, Musician and Board Member of the Jazz Station; Patricia Skipper, Lane Arts Council Board Member and Development Director of Oregon Mozart Player; Marcia James Gluz, Hult Center Ticket Office Manager, City of Eugene Cultural Services Division.
