Out & About is Lane Arts Council's guide to Lane County's Outdoor Art attractions. The full-color brochure was printed in 2001 in recognition of the City of Eugene's 20th Anniversary of the Art in Public Places act (adopted August 1981).
In 1975, Oregon became the third state in the nation to adopt a statewide Percent for Art program. In 1981 the City of Eugene adopted a similar program. Proactive endeavors such as these, combined with talented and diverse artists, have contributed to Lane County's outdoor art collection. With over one hundred pieces in existence, Out & About was created as a self-guided tour intended to introduce some of these works to the public. The thirty-nine works in the Eugene-Springfield area featured in Out & About are arranged geographically and are keyed for their accessibility.
